CHEVRON UK PENSIONERS’ ASSOCIATION
STRATEGY DOCUMENT – 2023
Association Mission Statement
The Association is an independent voluntary group, funded by member subscription, whose purpose is to represent and assist Chevron UK pension plan beneficiaries in addressing pension issues.
Association Strategy
Upon retirement, Chevron Pensioners find themselves in a more dependent situation to that of employment. Retiree benefits will reduce in real terms in the ever-changing tide of world and oil industry events.
The Association exists to bring retirees’ financial and other circumstances to Chevron’s attention.
The Association strives to have regular and ongoing access to the ‘right’ people across Chevron.
The Association is the only organization focused on expressing, at every opportunity, the expectation that retiree benefits remain competitive with recognised indices.
The Association seeks to remind Chevron management of the debt they owe to retirees, by striving to persuade Chevron to honour past promises and obligations.
To this end, the elements of the Association Strategy are:
- To be relentless in pursuit of The Mission
- To represent pensioners’ financial interests through constructive lobbying and dialogue with the right Chevron people.
- To communicate with Association Members via the website, e-mail and Insight magazine.
- To direct Association Member queries to the pension service provider or Chevron as appropriate.
- To lobby on behalf of ex Caltex (UK) Overseas pensioners.
- To be aware of significant hardship issues among Association Members and direct appropriately.
- To monitor other industry pensioner associations and government agencies.
- To brief new Chevron managers on current and historic pensioner issues.
- To seek and compile comparator pensions data through personal contacts.
- To be fair, frank and trustworthy at all times.
- To promote the Association and its activities at every opportunity.
- To be available to support and assist Chevron Pension Plan beneficiaries and their families/dependents.
- To encourage social and welfare interaction between Chevron pensioners and their beneficiaries/dependents through supporting social events and /or welfare programmes.
