Inheritance Tax (IHT) Issues

This is another area that is in the spotlight lately and where financial advice is essential if you are married and have property and other assets worth over £650,000 or single with assets of over £325,000.

The Government is proposing to include pension funds in the total taxable assets and with the IHT rate at 40%. advice is well worthwhile.

There are companies that specialise in IHT. We cannot make any recommendations but an internet search for ‘IHT advice’ will bring up the main ones and sites such as Which has recommendations, too.

You will also find more information on our Planning Ahead page

Your assets are also used in the assessment of Care home Costs and the same techniques used for ‘managing’ IHT are used to protect your assets from this too.

Here are some articles on the current issues from the iPaper website. Although it is a paid news service you can usually read the articles by agreeing to see some adverts. Or you can use a browser like DuckDuckGo (from a children’s game apparently) which is known for its high security and advert suppression. Again, an internet search will tell you more about it.
